Deacon + Elder Nominees - Class of 2025

Deacons — Ed Garcia 1. Tell us why you agreed to serve as a Deacon or Elder. I have agreed to serve as a deacon because I have felt called to volunteer in several areas of the church and I feel I have more to offer and more to learn. I feel there is an opportunity to grow into a new level of stewardship that will benefit the needs of the church, our community, our youth, and myself. This seems to be the path I am grateful for and look forward to the opportunity to serve and grow wi... Read More

Newest FPC Dallas Members

Scott Hiemstra  Scott's care and concern is the "walking of life"--the Halakhah--for all he meets and especially himself; the deliberately conscious awareness of who we are, what we are about, and how we get along. God is teaching him to relate to and work with people by noticing them for who they are.  There are many things that bring Scott joy. He likes to be a problem solver--especially when the solution is both clever and subsequently obvious; spending time with his ... Read More

Recommend an Elder or Deacon

Every year, the congregation of FPC Dallas recommends individuals to serve as elders or deacons. These recommendations are considered and prayed over by our Congregational Nominating Committee, which will present their nominees to the congregation. Now is the time to make your recommendations for elders and deacons to help lead our church. Please prayerfully consider who you’d recommend for these important roles. Youth Mission Co. + FPC Dallas

Are we witnessing a resurrection? A revival of sorts?   Not so long ago, a few of our FPC Dallas stewards approached Bill Buchanan, Executive Director of Youth Mission Co., with the idea of reviving the visiting youth program at FPC Dallas. Well, several calls, a LOT of meetings, and one pilot program later, Dallas Youth Mission was born.   Dallas Youth Mission (DYM) is the newest program of the non-profit ministry Youth Mission Co. (YMCo), which coordinates mission immers... Read More

Welcoming New Friends

We’re opening our arms in welcome to another congregation on Sundays starting this August. Fellow members of Grace Presbytery, United African Presbyterian Church, will be holding their Sunday services at 10:30 AM beginning August 14 in the Sudie George Chapel while they find a new space to call their permanent home. Hospitality is a hallmark of FPC Dallas, so all are encouraged to worship with them, say hello to new friends, and take the opportunity to visit over a cup of coffee in Ande... Read More

FPC Dallas + World Central Kitchen

Recently, FPC Dallas received a financial boost from gas drilling revenues due in part to shortages sparked by the invasion of Ukraine and the ongoing impacts of the pandemic. At the request of the church’s Finance Committee and Elders, the Missions Committee was tasked with finding an organization that was providing relief to those living through and fleeing the turmoil in Ukraine to which financial support might be provided.  The Mission and Benevolence Committee voted to contri... A Time of Communal Lament

Dear Church Family,   Tonight, I join you in prayer for the Robb Elementary School community in Uvalde. Should you struggle to find the right words, I offer the lament below on behalf of us all.   Peace, Amos Disasa, Pastor   Tender they lie, numbered to nineteen fated to find eternal rest where innocence was once expressed during hopscotch and home room. Their right to carry on with the final days of school undisturbed by evil, GONE.   Tender they lie, ... Read More
