We had 129 folks get vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine at The Stewpot on March 11. Parkland did a wonderful job of taking care of everyone and our Stewpot team really shined.
Last week when we knew we would be able to have Parkland do vaccines on site, our team started planning and calling our clients!
Cindy and Courtney were the coordinators of all the elements.
Betty, Courtney, Laura, Lacy, Santos, Lauren, Angeles, Jamaal, Michelle K, Becky, Alma, Suzanne all started reaching out to artists, vendors and all our other clients to talk with them about coming to get the vaccine. They answered questions and encouraged them to get it.
Staff called our partners – DDI, OLUMC and Mission Oak Cliff to encourage them to have folks come on Thursday (or bring people).
Laura and another staff member took the van down to the encampment at City Hall and brought some clients to get vaccinated. Out of all those people only 1 person out of 130 was found to have a COVID-19 positive response on the test Parkland did as part of the assessment. Laura made arrangements with Office of Homeless Solutions to get the person into quarantine at a hotel. Suzanne went and got Our Calling’s Covid van for she and Laura to safely transport the person to the hotel.
Carol, Johnnie and Daniel cleaned bathrooms, chairs and all high touch areas constantly.
All the Client Services team along with Suzanne and our officers were helping Parkland with directing clients and had hygiene goodie bags as a parting gift.
The Meal Services provided sack meals and water for everyone to take.
Jamaal picked up pizza for all Stewpot and Parkland workers.
What a smooth operation!
