Rev. Dr. Noel Schoonmaker to preach at FPC Dallas

What: Rev. Dr. Noel Schoonmaker at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas as a guest preacher.

When: Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 8:30 AM | 10 AM | 11 AM

Where: 1835 Young St., Dallas, Texas 75201

FPC Dallas welcomes Rev. Dr. Noel Schoonmaker as our guest preacher on April 30 at all three worship services. Originally from Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Rev. Schoonmaker has previously served churches in Tennessee and North Carolina, and since 2019 has served as Senior Pastor of Second Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. He holds degrees from Furman University (B.A.), Wake Forest University (M.Div.), and Vanderbilt University (M.A., Ph.D.); and has taught courses for Vanderbilt Divinity School, Carson-Newman University, and Central Baptist Theological Seminary.

Rev. Schoonmaker has been featured on Day 1 and has published articles for Religion News Service, Baptists Today, Homily Service Homiletic, and Interpretation. Noel and his wife Dayna have two daughters, Maggie and Nora, whom he often shares stories about in his sermons. Storytelling, according to Rev. Schoonmaker, is in fact a powerful tool:

Stories are how we make sense of life. We all operate within some plot line that molds the meaning of our existence. Amid the many misplaced narratives we sometimes tell ourselves there is a story that can’t sustain itself with Good News. There is a story that pulls us into God’s truth. If you find yourself surrounded by a smorgasbord of predicament, let me tell you a story. If you find yourself just trying to wait out the darkness, let me tell you a story. If you find yourself all out of strength and all out of answers, let me tell you a story.

Let Rev. Schoonmaker tell you a story about faith, unity, and FPC Dallas at one of our worship services on Sunday, April 30.
