We are delighted to share the news that our Children’s Ministry Search Team, chaired by Elder Steve Cairns, has closed the search for a Children’s Minister and Day School Chaplain because Jen Bluestein has accepted the position!
Jen brings over fifteen years of serving with children and their families in congregational ministry and as a pediatric chaplain. Jen earned her M.Div. from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, OK. While in seminary, Jen led the children’s ministry at First Presbyterian Church Bentonville. Jen was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament at First Presbyterian Church Grapevine, where she has been an active participant in ministry with children and youth. Prior to joining us, Jen served as a chaplain at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. She is also a Ph.D. candidate in Pastoral Theology at Brite Divinity School. Her research focuses on childhood studies and pastoral care with children. Jen impressed the Search Team from the start with her interpersonal skills, demeanor, intelligence, and love of children.
Jen believes children teach her as much as she teaches them; she brings a deep understanding of the developmental needs of children. She believes we must allow children to guide and nurture us, as we also honor our baptismal vows to nurture them in the Christian faith. We look forward to watching Jen build relationships with the children and families at FPC, as well as with the children, families, and staff at the Day School. We believe she will help us reengage with children and families as we continue to live in the midst of a pandemic without a vaccine for our youngest participants. Please join us in welcoming Jen Bluestein to our church! Jen's first Sunday will be October 17, 2021.
