Wood Street Worship is a new worshipping community that meets downtown to explore what it means to follow Jesus and love our neighbors so Dallas looks more like heaven. We believe Sundays are just the start, and our faith becomes real as it shapes the rest of our lives.
None of us can do this alone. Come and see what happens when the answers to questions that keep you up late are revealed in friendships you never thought you’d find in church. It gets real when we decide to live our faith all together, every day of the week.
Wood Street Worship meets every Sunday at 10 AM in Byrd Hall. Wood Street Worship lasts about 50 minutes because we think that church shouldn’t be long or boring. You can expect songs you’d never thought to sing in church, prayers in unison, the holy awkwardness of silence, and a seven-minute intermission right before the sermon.
Come in through any entrance, and our friendly greeters will quickly guide you on your way. We can’t wait to see you.
The hope of our community is transformation. We seek it for our city as ministers of reconciliation, peace, and justice. We nurture it in each other by following the way of Jesus where the healing is generous, and everyone is welcome. We anticipate it will come each time we gather to rediscover the light and love of God. We value being vulnerable and honest, especially when it is uncomfortable to do so.
Wood Street Worship builds on the legacy of the most courageous church in Dallas, FPC Dallas. Our ministry is as old as the city of Dallas, and for 165 years, we have led our city towards renewal, acceptance, and love through Jesus.
There is a band, the music isn’t cheesy, the preaching is challenging, and we could not care less about what clothes you show up in. As much as we can describe the ins and outs of this new worship experience, we want you to see it for yourself in person. When you come, expect to see people from all over Dallas. Our roots run deep, and our branches stretch wide.
When we say “everyone is welcome here”, we mean it. We are an open and affirming congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) denomination. This is a place reserved for skeptics to ask hard questions without judgment, for people following Jesus to be challenged in how they live out their faith, and for friendships to flourish as we labor together to care for others. You, along with your unique perspective and experiences, are needed to be part of and help shape this new community.
Wood Street Worship is designed to be kid-friendly and engaging for all ages. We want your young ones to be part of our worshiping community, and we make room for the things that come with being a busy family attending a worship service. If you prefer, Childcare is available during our Sunday morning gatherings.
We’re located in the heart of Downtown Dallas at 1835 Young Street, walking distance from both the Farmer’s Market and the Central Business District. On Sundays you can enter the building through our Parking Garage, the Welcome Center on Young Street, or from the historical entrance of our campus on Harwood.
Whether you’ve visited a few times, or are on the fence about checking us out, we’d love to get to know you and hear more about what you are looking for. Say “hello” to us online, and we’ll be in touch to answer your questions, help you explore your next steps, or just chat over coffee.
